CommUNITY: working together to make something bigger than ourselves.
We live in a world full of diversity, and art can be used as a tool to bring harmony and community among people who were previously distant.
Below are some pictures of a community initiative to fill our sidewalks with art during the COVID pandemic. The neighborhood was filled with colorful pictures and encouraging messages, and people were brought together in a time characterized by fear.

Plano, TX holds an International Festival each year. Many groups present their traditional dances, foods, crafts, and clothes to the delight of everyone.
Our school decided to participate in the festival, and this large weaving project was a beautiful addition. Symbolically, all of the fibers must weave in and out of each other in order for the rug to be strong. If any single strand or group of strands are skipped, the entire piece suffers in it's loss of durability and beauty. Every strand is important.

Our church travelled to Reynosa, Mexico to build a home for a family that lives off of their findings in the next door garbage dump. We we part of a larger group that built 8 home total over a 3 day period. The organization has built around 3,000 homes over the past 20 years.
1 Samuel 2:8
"He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump. He sets them among princes, placing them in seats of honor".
Our God is both strength and beauty. A home represents both.
